Sylvester Pierce Williams.  Information for this addition was taken from The Partridge Nest; NEHGS's online databases; and a book, Partridge genealogy: descendants of John Partridge of Medfield, Mass. by George Homer Partridge, and available online at Heritage Quest.
11 Dec. 2006:    4715      I suspected that Sylvester P. Williams' full middle name was Pierce, because his daughter named her second son Sylvester Pierce Walmsley.  My suspicion was confirmed by finding that a New Orleans, Louisiana, woman, probably researching the Walmsley ancestors, sent a query to the NEHGS in 1957 asking about the ancestors of Robert Williams and his wife whose son was Sylvester Pierce Williams.  Added Robert Williams and Mercy Hardy, who were the parents of Sylvester Pierce Williams.  Also added Mary (--?--) Williams, who was the wife of Orion H. Williams (correcting his sex to male), and added their daughter Nellie Williams.  The latter information came from several censuses of Illinois.
10 Dec. 2006:    4711     A more careful study of The Partridge Nest database indicated that the eldest sister and brother of Persis Partridge were Caroline and Orion Partridge.  The first two children of the first wife of Sylvester P. Williams were named Caroline and Orion Williams, I have decided that the first wife must have been Persis Partridge and that their marriage date is probably in 1835 or earlier.  Therefore, I have merged the Unnamed First Wife with Persis Partridge, and revised their probable marriage date.  Also added the three known children of Sylvester P. Williams and his second and third wives.

5 Dec. 2006:    4709      Based on a significant increase in the vital records placed online at the West Liberty, Iowa, Public Library, Genealogy Web site, I added and revised many facts and sources for people who resided near West Liberty in Muscatine, Johnson and Cedar Counties of Iowa in the late 1800s to very recently.  This included the families of Harriet Desmond and her two husbands, Thomas Hayward and James R. Singleton; Charles S. Mackey and his two wives, Sarah Thompson and Harriet Thomas Hayward; Walter L. Mackey and his two wives, Rozetta/Rosetta Nichols and Mrs. Martha J. (Thompson) Harrington; and the family of Martha J. Thompson and her first husband, Don Brown Harrington.  Also added Sarilda Applegate, who was the spouse of William Claude Harrington, a brother of Don Brown Harrington, she, he and several of their children are buried in Downey Cemetery, Cedar Co., as were Don B. Harrington, his wife and one child who died young, and several others from these families.

Walmsley.  She was born 27 Dec 1804 in Cecil Co., Maryland, and the only Beard household with daughters under 10 in Cecil Co. at the 1810 census was Hugh Beard's household.  In addition she named a son Hugh Beard Walmsley.
22 Nov. 2006:    4707      Added the parents of Cornelius Collins Beard, who were Joseph Anthony Beard and Marrie/Mary Grover, she was the Mrs. Mary Beard of New Orleans whose Bible provided the records of this family.  Information on their family came from entries in that Bible, see the update for 3 Oct. 2006 for information on that Bible.

(--?--) Beard, who was the second wife of Cornelius Collins Beard.  Their family was found in the 1900 census of Brookline, Massachusetts.  After Cornelius C. Beard's death in 1906, she is found living with her daughter Bonnie in the 1910 and 1920 censuses of Massachusetts.
19 Nov. 2006:    4704      1) Added the parents of Robert Miller Walmsley, who were Robert M. Walmsley and his first wife Margaret Beard, she died in 1840, and his father married Harriet McCauley, who was also added.  Information for these additions comes primarily from the Bible kept by Harriet M. Walmsley, the step-mother of the children of Robert M. and his first wife.  See update below for more information on her Bible.  2) Revised the details for Cornelius Collins Beard who was the spouse of Philadelphia Stuart Menteath, and they were the parents of Philadelphia Isabella Beard, the wife of Robert Williams Walmsley.  The information for these changes comes partly from the Bible of Mrs. Mary Beard, see the update for 3 Oct. 2006 for information on that Bible.  After the death of Philadelphia Beard in 1881, Cornelius C. Beard remarried and moved to New York and to Massachusetts by 1900, as found in the 1900 census of Brookline, Massachusetts, where he died in 1906, per the NEHGS online database, Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841-1910.
18 Nov. 2006:    4701      1) Added the date and location of the marriage of Robert Miller Walmsley and Caroline Gratia Williams as found in the family Bible of Harriet M. Walmsley, who was the second wife of Robert M. Walmsley, and the step mother of Robert Miller Walmsley, born 5 Mar 1833.  Her Bible records were published in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Dec 2005, a copy of that article was sent to me by a living researcher of this and related families.  2) Added Louise Harral, a daughter of Jared A. and Lydia Eliza (Strong) Harral (his second wife), and her spouse, Charles M. O'Donnell.  This information as found in the biography of Jared Alphonso Harral included in the book History of New Orleans, by John Smith Kendall, which was also sent to me by the above researcher.  This biography also indicates that he was first married on 20 Jan 1866 in Galveston, Texas, but it does not give her name. I knew about this marriage, but her name was previously unknown to me.  She was identified as Mrs. Lavinia Brown Foster in his biography in Who's Who in America, 1918, which was also sent to me by the same researcher.
17 Nov. 2006:    4699      1) Added the parents of James Dudley, William and Catharine (--?--) Dudley, as found in the 1860 census of Allen Co., Kansas Territory, the 1850 census of St. Clair Co., Missouri, and the 1820 census of Delaware Co., Indiana.  Also added Clark Dudley who was a son of Floyd William Dudley and Velma C. (Rieks) Dudley, as the result of correspondence with a living descendant of their son, Charles William Dudley.  2) Added details about the lives of John A. Martin and his first wife, Sarah Driver.  They were the parents of Lydia Martin who became the wife Henry Lyman Bassett, a son of Lydia Minerva Hitchcock and her first husband.  This information is from correspondence with a living descendant of John A. Martin and Sarah Driver, by a sister of Lydia Martin.  She also provided the name of the second wife of John A. Martin, Giles Graham, and I discovered more details about her in the 1860 census of Burlington, Iowa, and the 1870 census of Lancaster Co., Nebraska.

Williams and an unknown first wife who were the parents of Caroline Gratia Williams, wife of Robert Miller Walmsley.  This information comes primarily from 1850 and 1860 censuses of Vermont and New York where she is living in her father's household at 14 years old in 1850 and 24 years old, married with two sons born in Iowa, in 1860.

16 Oct. 2006:    4662      1) Added Alfred Jones, who is probably a brother of Louisa Jones, they were both probably children of Benjamin Jones and his first wife, Mary (--?--) Jones.  Also added Elizabeth Woodell who was the spouse of Alfred Jones.  Information for these additions came primarily from a Genealogy Report The Descendants of Alfred Jones by a living Jones researcher.  2) Added a single child representing the ten, or more, children born to Benjamin and Mary (--?--) Jones prior to the 1800 census.  These children are from the 1790 and 1800 censuses of Charlestown, New Hampshire.  3) Added Nathaniel Jones and Joanna(h) Hutchins, his wife, and five of their children.  In addition to the five children added, they were also the parents of a Benjamin Jones who is probably the Benjamin Jones, father of Louisa (Jones) Royce and Alfred Jones.  The information for this addition comes from several volumes of The New England Historic Genealogical Society Register.

Harral.  I have decided that the Social Security Death Index must be incorrect as to her name, Sarah A. Harrell, and her date of birth, 19 Dec 1913.  The 1920 census indicates that she was 7 before 1 Jan 1920, became age 7 in 1919, born in 1912; the 1930 census indicates that she was 17 which means that she was born late in 1912 or early (before April 1) in 1913; the Mumma Family Association indicates that she was born 29 Dec 1912 in Findlay, Ohio; and the family Bible of Mrs. Mary Beard of New Orleans also indicates the same date and place.  2) As the result of correspondence with the living relative mentioned in the update of 2 Oct. 2006, below, I found out that the entire Social Security Death Record is not for Sara A. (Mumma) Harral, she is still living in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Roe, age 16, born Dec. 1883 in Kansas, a servant in the Schlichting household in Yates Center, Kansas, in the 1900 census.  That was probably where she and William Henry Jackson were married after this census was enumerated.  I also found that the obituary of William Henry Jackson explained where the family lived between 1900 and 1942, so I was able to use that as a source for the probable locations of the birth of his children.

Jackson and his first wife, Eleanor Joy (Powell) Booth.  2) I found William Jackson, son of William H. Jackson and Eleanor Joy (Powell) Jackson, in the 1910 census, married to his first wife, who was previously known only by her surname, ROE, she is Hattie M. (Roe) Jackson, and they have two daughters.  Their daughters are different in this census than I expected, Ione Fay Jackson matches fine.  But William Jackson's obituary indicates that a daughter Eleanor Ferrari of California also survived him.  The California Deaths Database, did have an Eleanor F. Ferrari, whom I though was his daughter, she is not.  By looking for a female, born about 1901, father's last name JACKSON, I found a Eleanor Pichon Ferrar, who was born 1901 in Kansas, and whose father was a Jackson.  I have corrected my data to show those facts. 3) Hattie M. Jackson is actually Harriet M. Jackson, and she and William H. Jackson apparently were divorced sometime between 1910 and 1918 when he married Beulah Hunter.  Harriet Jackson, calling herself a widow, is in the 1920 census of Denver, Colorado, with both of their daughters.  Later, Harriet and both daughters apparently moved to California, where Harriet (Roe) Jackson died in Mendocino Co., California, in 1952, and the two daughters also married and died many years later.

(--?--) Johnson as the mother of Letta Rae Johnson, and revised the name of her father from C. R. Johnson to Casper R. Johnson, all as found in the 1900 and 1910 censuses for Albany, Linn Co., Oregon.  Letta Rae (Johnson) Benight was the wife of Guy William Benight, and they were the parents of Ray Everett and Alice I. Benight.   2) Corrected the name of the husband of Jennie/Jennet Cole, daughter of Harmanus and Maragriet (Swartwout) Cole, from George Allen to Alexander Smith, and added life and death details for them based on several censuses of Washington Co., Pennsylvania, and the research of a living descendant.

11 Aug. 2006:    4633      The book Brian Pendleton and his descendants, 1599-1910 that I used as a source spelled DuPage Co., Illinois, as Du Page County several times.  The State of Illinois, the County and the USGS Names Information System show that it is correctly spelled DuPage, so I corrected the spelling, except in direct quotes from that source.

6 Aug. 2006:    4633      I finally found the obituary for Neil Louis Crone, MD, which told me that he died at his home in Belmont, Massachusetts, 24 Nov 1985, and was buried in Belmont Cemetery on 29 Nov 1985.  He was a grandson of Ezra Frederick Pendleton, Jr., and Alice S. (Jackson) Pendleton.  His obituary was published in The Boston Globe 26 Nov 1985 and is available from ProQuest via my local public library.  For some reason his death was not recorded in the Massachusetts Death Index.

Walsh, based on the 1880 census of Keokuk Co., Iowa, and the 1910 census of Jasper Co., Iowa.  They are both wives of descendants of Alice S. (Jackson) Pendleton.  2) Found newspaper announcement of the plans of Katharine Griswold for her marriage to Neil Crone that gave the planed date and location.  Revised my estimated date and location. 4 Aug. 2006:    4633      Added the spouses of the three children of Neil L. and Katharine (Griswold) Crone, based on the obituary of Peter Griswold Crone, their son.  Also added and revised details about the descendants of Alice S. (Jackson) Pendleton and her husband, Ezra F. Pendleton, Jr.  These changes are the result of finding: 1. The family of Katharine Griswold in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses of Groton, Massachusetts. 2. The burial records of the Sixteen Cemetery, Thornburg, Keokuk Co., Iowa, showing the burials of Charles and Agnes Crone, and George H. Pendleton, who died in the 1950s, and more detail of the earlier Pendleton burials there. 3. Charles F. Crone family in the 1900 census of Marshalltown, Iowa, indexed as Carne.
3 Aug. 2006:    4630      Changed the preferred name for Neil Crone from Neil Pendleton Crone to Neil Louis Crone, because that is the name he was known by from 1920, or before, to his death.  He is Neil L. Crone in the 1920 census and in late 1924, it was announced that Neil Louis Crone of Marshalltown, Iowa, a student at Grinnell College, is an Iowa winner of the Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University, England, for 1925.  Also added his wife Katharine Griswold and their three children, two of which are still living.
2 Aug. 2006:    4626      Added Frederick Pendleton and his first wife, Joanna Wilbur, who were the parents of Ezra Frederick Pendleton.  Also added Mrs. Abbie Germain who was Frederick Pendleton's second wife, and added her first husband, ? Germain.  These additions were taken from the book, Brian Pendleton and his descendants, 1599-1910 and several censuses of Illinois and Colorado.

31 July 2006:    4622      Found in the NEHGS database Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850 a birth record for Mary Richardson, born 24 Sep 1813 in Wrentham, Massachusetts, the daughter of Ebenezer Richardson and his wife Betsey.  This birth date matches the post 1850 census entries for Mary (Richardson) Pendleton, and closely matches the birth information for her in the book, Brian Pendleton and his descendants, 1599-1910, where she is said to be the daughter of Ebenezer and Mercy (Nogar) Richardson.  In the Massachusetts there is no record of a Mercy Richardson as the mother of a daughter, Mary, between 1810 and 1815.  There is a record that Ebenezer Richardson married a Mercy B. Fisher in 1822, several year after Mary Richardson's birth.  I also found, in the same book, on pages 472-3, the parents of Ezra Frederick Pendleton, Jr., were living in DuPage Co., Illinois, when he was born, but on page 622 he is said to have been born near Nauvoo, Illinois.  Nauvoo is in Hancock Co., Illinois more than 200 miles from DuPage Co.  One of those birth locations must be in error.  These pieces of information have been added as alternative facts.
30 July 2006:    4622      Added Charles Frank Crone as the husband of Agnes May Pendleton, who was a daughter of Ezra F. and Alice S. (Jackson) Pendleton.  Also added Neil Pendleton Crone, the son of Charles and Agnes Crone.  Also added and revised several details about the descendants of Ezra Frederick Pendleton that I discovered in a new source, a book, Brian Pendleton and his descendants, 1599-1910 by Everett Hall Pendleton, which is available through HeritageQuest.
29 July 2006:    4620      Discovered from the 1880 census, on Ancestry.com, of East Waterloo Twp., Black Hawk Co., Iowa, that an Alice, age 28, born in Ohio, father born England, mother born Ohio, was one of two daughters-in-law of Ezra F. Pendleton (I transcribed the surname as PENDELTON.), born in Rhode Island, with two married sons, probably Ebenezer and Fred Pendleton.  I suspected that she was Allie/Alice S. Jackson, daughter of William and Rachel (Horsman) Jackson, then living in the town of Waterloo, Iowa.  I tried finding Pendeltons in later censuses and pretty much struck out.  Then I discovered that same 1880 census from FamilySearch.com showed the surname as spelled Pendleton, and I realized that I had made the error.  That led to finding that Alice S. Jackson was married to Ezra Frederick "Fred" Pendleton, Jr., and I had broken one of my brick walls. Added 14 persons, including Ezra F. Pendleton, Jr., his parents and descendants of he and Alice S. (Jackson) Pendleton, his wife.

24 July 2006:    4606      I finally found what I believe to be the J. P. Bennett household in Western Twp. of Henry Co., Illinois in the 1860 census.  He was identified as J. P. Barnett, age 35 born in New Jersey, wife Jennie, age 35 born in Ohio; except for the name that is about right.  But, according to this census they have a 2 year old son, Stephen, and no daughter, which has to be a mistake, probably by the person, a neighbor(?), who probably provided the information.  I think that Stephen was really the daughter, Josephine who shows up at age 11, in the 1870 census of Western Twp.  She was almost certainly born in Western Twp., as were the later children.  I have made the changes to show that; using the 1860 census as my source.  I also know that there were several Illinois land purchases by men named Joseph Bennett as early as 1833, I am not certain that any of these people were this Joseph Bennett.
23 July 2006:    4606      After finding the Joseph Bennett family in 1870 census of Henry Co., Ohio, and the J. P. Bennett family in the 1880 census of Kellogg, Iowa, I finally realized that Mary Josephine Bennett and Laura A. Bennett were sisters who had both married sons of Carlton Braley of Kellogg, Iowa.  Fred Alonzo Braley married 15 Feb 1882 Laura A. Bennett in Kellogg; and between 1910 and 1920, his brother Frank Titus Braley, married as his third wife, his brother's sister-in-law, Mary Josephine Bennett, probably in Cook Co., Illinois.  The book Braley Genealogy told me that the mother of Laura A. Bennett was Jemima Ann (Brown) Bennett, but the California Death Index had that Mary Josephine (Bennett) Braley's mother's maiden name was DEMMET, which I now know was a mistake.  I merged the parents of Laura Bennett with the parents of Josephine Bennett and added their two other children, thus not changing the number of individuals in my database.  Joseph P. Bennett, his wife Jemima Ann (Brown) Bennett and two of their four children are buried in Our Silent City Cemetery, Kellogg, Iowa.

(Thompson) [Harrington] Mackey, based on the receipt of a copy of her SS-5, Application for Social Security Account Number.  Primarily changed her birth date from 21 Jun 1889, as in the SSDI, to 21 Jun 1890 as shown on the SS-5, which matched her age, 69, and must have been an error in the SSDI.  Also changed the spelling of her mother's maiden from Blakely, as consistently found on censuses, to Blakley, from her SS-5 and the obituary that I had previously found for her sister, Mary Elizabeth (Thompson) Chambers.

Brown and Mary E. (Dailey) Brown.   Mary E. Dailey was an older sister of Jesse Summers Dailey.  Information about their family came from the above book as well as the 1850 & 1860 censuses of Beverly, Virginia, and the 1870 & 1880 censuses of Coe Twp., Rock Island Co., Illinois.

Shook, Sarah Maria (Dailey) Shook married Clinton Eggleston and she is also buried in Jesse Dailey Cemetery.  So I now know her actual date of birth and death from her cemetery listing.  The 1880 and 1900 censuses show that she was living in Whiteside Co., Illinois before she died.
10 July 2006:    4581      I discovered in the 1870 census that there was an M. S. Dailey, born about 1833 in Virginia, living in Washington Co., Oregon.  This census showed that he was married to a Mary from Illinois and they had a son Jesse, born about 1861 in Oregon.  The 1880 census showed that they also had a daughter Edith J., and the 1860 and 1900 censuses tell me that his full name was Marcellus Seth Dailey.  He and his wife Mary must have been the M. S. and M. Dailey, parents of the Phebe E. Dailey, age 2, buried in Jesse Dailey Cemetery in March, 1870, probably during a visit home.  Marcellus Seth Dailey was a son of Hugh and Edith A. Dailey.  I slightly revised the estimated birth date of one of their other children to fit him in their family.  Also, the unnamed daughter of Hugh and Edith Dailey, born between 1830 and 1835 must have been the Sarah Maria Dailey who married James C. Shook on 18 November 1849 in Rock Island Co.  He and two of their children are also buried in the Jesse Dailey Cemetery.

Butcher, who were the parents of both Mary E. (Dailey) Brown and Jesse Summers Dailey, he has been in my database for some time.  This addition shows that Oscar Lee Brown and his wife, Edith A. (Dailey) Brown, were both grandchildren of Hugh Dailey and Edith A. (Butcher) Dailey, they were first cousins.   Also added the other known children of Hugh and Edith Dailey, and the two sons of Oscar and Edith Brown and their spouses.  The information for this addition came largely from a book, A History of Preston County, West Virginia by Oren Frederic Morton, which is online at HeritageQuest, and various censuses.

Brown in 1934 and listings of burials in the Jesse Dailey Cemetery, Coe Twp., Rock Island Co., Illinois.

(Holden) Sweet.  And finding a less likely William Sweet, of about the right age, in the 1870 census of Wells Twp., Bradford Co., Pennsylvania, and not finding any likely living Sweet in the 1880 census of any state.
25 June 2006:    4552      1) I finally found the Massachusetts vital records for the marriage of John Leonard to Ruth Bigelow, filed under the names John LENORD and Ruth BIGLOW, which were spellings that I never saw in their other records.  These records show that they were married in Westborough, Worcester Co., which I suspected, but had not been able to confirm.   2)Added Mary Ross who was the second wife of Joseph Graves, and the step-mother of his children by his first wife.

Harrington, who was added 9 June 2006.  This information was obtained from the same Southern Harrington Web site mentioned in the 13 June update.  2) Changed the date and probable location of the death of Nancy B. (Moore) Holden to be between 1870 and 1880, probably in Shrewsbury, Rutland Co., Vermont.  She was previously thought to have lived until after the 1880 census because there is a Nancy Holden in the 1880 census, living in the William Johnson household, Andover, Vermont.  That person is the same age as Nancy B. (Moore) Holden and she is also in the William Johnson household, Andover, in the 1870 census, but as Nancy Hedelen, age 81; while Nancy B. (Moore) Holden is in Shrewsbury, age 81, living in the household of son-in-law "Zibia" Flanders and daughter Ruth R. (Holden) Flanders.

Moore, wife of Julius Sawtell Holden.  This addition includes 16 individuals, who make up two generations of ancestors of Elizabeth Loker and three generations of ancestors of Sarah Loker, who were first cousins, once removed.  This addition links Deacon Edmund Rice as a 5th Great Grandfather of Nancy B. Moore.  This information is found in the NEHGS Online database Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850, the NEGHS Register, and the web site of the Edmund Rice (1638) Association, Inc.
16 June 2006:    4524      Changed the birth date and location of Elizabeth Armelda Blakely from September 1852 in Tennessee to September 1850 in Whitley Co., Kentucky, after finding several censuses of her parents family in Kentucky before and after she was born.  Only the 1900 census of Scott Co., Tennessee, shows that she was born September 1852 in Tennessee, but she is 48, not 49, all others (1860, 1870, 1880 & 1910) show that she was age 9, 19 or 29 and born 1850/1 in Kentucky.  Her parents lived in Whitley Co., Kentucky in 1850 through 1860; by 1870 they had moved across the border into Scott Co., Tennessee.
15 June 2006:    4524      I found a 1968 obituary for Mary Elizabeth (Thompson) Chambers on the Scott Co, Tennessee, GenWeb site.  It indicated that she was survived by one sister, Mrs. Martha Harrington Mackey of Iowa City, Iowa.  So now Martha J. Harrington's maiden name is known to have been THOMPSON.  That obituary also gave the names of the parents of Mary Elizabeth and Martha J. Thompson, whom I have added.  I also found their parents family in the 1880, 1900 and 1910 censuses of Scott Co., Tennessee, so I was able to add some details about their lives.
13 June 2006:    4522      From a Southern Harrington web site and the Harrington Genforum, I found that the maiden name of Mary, the wife of George B. Harrington, was JONES and that she probably was called by the nickname Polly.  Added a fourth daughter to the family of George B. and Mary "Polly" (Jones) Harrington, as found in the 1840 census of Iredell Co., North Carolina.  This daughter probably died before the 1850 census.  Also changed the probable locations of the birth of their daughters as a result of that census.
12 June 2006:    4521      Revised sources, primarily Iowa WPA Graves Registration records, because the Ancestry.com online database, "Iowa Cemetery Records," no longer contains many WPA records that were in that database in 2003.  Therefore, some of the WPA records that I used are no longer available online.  The Iowa GenWeb Project "Iowa WPA Graves Registration Survey" contains many records that Ancestry.com does not have, but it does not replace all of the records that Ancestry.com somehow lost. However, I kept copies of the records that I used, and that source is now called "Iowa WPA Cemetery Records, 2003."

[Union Army] and from his online record found the maiden name of his wife, Catherine Gourley, the date of their marriage, and a better estimate of his date of death.  Also added 5 more children of Capt. David and Catherine (Gourley) Fry.   2) Added 3 more children of George and Mary (--?--) Harrington; 8 more children of William B. and Annie (Fry) Harrington and 7 children of Don B. and Martha J. (--?--) Harrington.  All found from several censuses and a few other sources.

22 May 2006:    4490      Realized that the two records of the apparent births of a Joannah Lenard in 1737/38 and Joannah Lennard in 1740, were not records of the birth of daughters, but the continuation of records of two children that were incomplete, because they did not provide their date of birth or the name of the wife.  The corrected records show that Susanah Lenard/Leonard was born 01 Feb 1737/38 in Southborough and Danniel Lennard/Leonard was born 02 Apr 1740 in Southborough, both to Ezekiel and Joannah Lenard/Lennard/Leonard.

Vital Records as children of Ezekiel Lennard or Lenard in Southborough, but without dates of birth.

Brown, who in the 1900 census, was the uncle of Frank Brown, the eldest son of Mary S. (Marlow) [Brown] Hitchcock and her first spouse, A. J. Brown, b. Iowa.  The biography indicates that William D. Brown's parents were Matthew Brown and Jane Graves, who lived in Marion Co., Iowa, before coming to Kansas.  From the 1860 census of Marion Co., Iowa, I find that William D. Brown's brother was Allen J. Brown, b. ~1854 in Marion Co., Iowa.  Also, I found in other censuses of the family of Andrew J. Brown that his widowed mother took her family including William Brown and Andrew to California by 1870 -- they did not go to Kansas.
15 Apr 2006:    4416      Revised the name of the second spouse of Heber Howard Hitchcock from Mary L. King to Mary S. Marlow.  This was done based on research done by a researcher of the Bridges families of Washington and Perry Counties in Illinois.  Caroline (Bridges) [Marlow] McDonald is known to have been the mother of Mary S. (Marlow)[Brown] Hitchcock from the 1900 census of Lola Twp., Cherokee Co., Kansas.  Her father was Alexander Marlow whose family is in the 1860 census of Perry Co., Illinois, where Mary S. Marlow is age 4.  Alexander Marlow died in the Civil War, and his widow married a McDonald.  I had thought that Mary's maiden name was King because the minister who married her and Heber Hitchcock returned the marriage report with his surname, King, used as Mary's surname, a mistake.
13 Apr 2006:    4416      Revised dates of birth and marriage for William Anson Whitcomb and his wife Ann Childs.  This information was found in the Whitcomb Family Bible that was owned by William Anson Whitcomb, Jr., their son, and is presently in the possession of a living descendant.  The date of the father's birth from the bible is also the same date that can be calculated from his date of death and age, as found in the records of Our Silent City Cemetery, Kellogg, Iowa, where he is buried.
12 Apr 2006:    4416      Corrected my mistaking the death notice for Mrs. Wm. W. Harral in 1905, at age 65, as the death of Mildred (Lundy) [Tiller] Harral, second wife of Whitfield Harral.  That Mrs. Whitfield Harral, age 53 in 1880, would have been about 78 years old in 1905, if she had lived that long.  I'm not sure when she died, but I think it was between 1880 and 1900, because she is not in the 1900 census of any state.
11 Apr 2006:    4416      Added the six known children of Annette Mallett and her husband, Thomas Parr Moore.  Added the seven children of Josephine Mallett, Annette's sister, and her husband Shepard Keene Linscott.  All of these children were grandchildren of Gordon T. Mallett and Lydia Minerva Hitchcock.  Also added Emeline L. Sinclair (A.K.A. Mira Simmons) who was the first spouse of Shepard Keene Linscott, and their two children, one of whom, Esther J. Linscott, became a step-daughter of Josephine (Mallett) Linscott.  Much of this information came from censuses of Washington Co., Iowa and Jackson Co., Kansas.  Detailed information on the children of Shepard K. Linscott and Josephine Mallett also came from a book, The Wildbores in America which is available from HeritageQuest Online.  It is in that book because Gordon T. Mallett's mother was a descendant of the Wildbor family.
6 Apr 2006:    4400      Identified the father of Solomon Dunham as Solomon Dunham, Sr., who was the husband of Mary Warner, and added portions of three generations of their Dunham ancestors.  This information from a documented ancestry prepared and sent to me by a living descendant.
31 Mar 2006:    4391      Changed the name of the spouse of Robert Royce of New London, Connecticut, from Mary Unknown to Mary Jackson and added three children who were born in England and died before the family emigrated to the colonies.  Also added the date and location of their marriage and of the christenings and births and deaths of the children born in England.  This is all new information discovered by a Royce family researcher who posted his recent findings on the Royce Genforum as message # 893 at this link: http://genforum.genealogy.com/royce/messages/893.html
22 Mar 2006:    4388     1) Added death information for Dorothy (Mergy) Sieglaff, based on facts from items in the Davenport Democrat & Leader, 1930 census of Waterloo, Iowa, and items in the Waterloo Daily Courier, Apr 1946 and Dec 1948.   2) Revised name of the first spouse of Whitfield Harral as Louisa Graham Hotchkiss and revised her date of death. Also added William Tiller as the deceased first spouse of Mildred Williamson Lundy, who on 7 July 1855 married Whitfield Harral as his second spouse. This information obtained from correspondence with a living descendant who discovered it in a biography of Whitfield Harral, Jr., in a book, Gonzales County [Mississippi] History.  3) Added two additional sons of Whitfield and Louisa Harral as found in the 1850 census of DeSoto Co., Mississippi.   4) Added Edward Crosby Gaylord as the first son of Frank Taylor Gaylord and Eva Veronica Crosby and revised details about the family of Frank Taylor Gaylord and his two spouses. Information as provided by a current descendant of Frank Taylor Gaylord.
