DatePersons       Additions and Revisions
13 Oct 2005:    4384     1) Added Elsie Nita Jenkis as the second spouse of Clement W. Hitchcock.  His first spouse was N. Gertrude Dowd and they were either divorced or she died before May 1951 when he married Elsie Jenkis.  This second marriage information was found in the records of the Davenport Public Library, while attempting to find the date and location for the first marriage, which is known only from the 1930 census.  2) Added death information for Frank Hitchcock, son of Albert C. and Jane Pabodie (Stanley) Hitchcock, after finding his death notice in the Davenport Democrat and Leader.  That notice idicated he died in 1922 in Sacramento, California, and a wife and children survived him.  Then I found the date of his death, in the California Deaths Database, the wife Rhoda (--?--) and children in the 1920 census of Santa Barbara Co., California, their children's births were in the California Birth Index, which showed that his wife's maiden name was Rhoda Webb.  3)Revised most vital facts for Ida M. (Kimball) Hitchcock, second spouse of Fred Allen Hitchcock, after finding her obituary in the Davenport Democrat and Leader.
11 Oct 2005:    4382     1) Revised details for the death and burial of Emily C. (--?--) from censuses, but based on correspondence with a Maddux researcher she is now known to have been Clara S. Maddux and was married to Esper V. Jackson in Leavenworth, Kansas on 6 Nov 1912.  The family of her parents was also found in the 1900 census of Johnson Co., Kansas, which provided better information on her date and location of birth.

26 Aug 2005:    4381     Revised some details regarding the birth of Prudence Isabel Muir and her marriage to Jasper Newton Stuart.  Primarily due to finding her, age 9, and her sister, 7, apparently orphans, living in the James H. Mitchell household in the 1850 census of Johnson Twp., Ripley Co., Indiana, not far from Jasper Newton Stuart, 10, and his parents.

(Braley) Mahan, and brother-in-law, George Arthur Mahan, in Rock Creek Twp., Jasper Co., Iowa in the 1885 Iowa State census.  This showed that he could not have been married as early as March 1885 as indicated in Braley Genealogy, which also incorrectly identified her and where they were married.

25 Jun 2005:    4352     Realized that if Philadelphia Beard was the granddaughter of Captain Thomas Stuart Monteith, as indicated in the biography of Dr. Robert W. Walmsley, he must have been the father of one of her parents.  Her father was Dr. C. C. Beard and his father's surname was Beard. Her mother's father must have been Thomas Stuart Monteith, and while she is not in the 1850 census of his family, she is probably working as a servant in another household.  Changed her surname from Unknown to Monteith and added her parents as found in the 1850 census of Canandaigua, New York.
23 Jun 2005:    4350     Added Louisa (--?--) Harral, who was the first wife of Whitfield Harral and the natural mother of Jared A. 16 Jun 2005:    4319     Discovered that the maiden name of Marion E. (--?--) Rice, wife of George F. Rice, was Greenwood.  This became apparent when their daughter Gertrude, age 23, was found living with her grandparents, James and Emma B. Greenwood, in the 1930 census of Saint Johnsbury, Vermont.  Apparently Gertrude's parents had died between 1920 and 1930 because they are not found in the 1930 census.  Also added the parents of Marion E. (Greenwood) Rice.

Tracy, from Frank W. Ohare to Frank W. Chase because I discovered that I had misread his surname in the 1900 census of Northfield, Vermont, as OHARE, which was indexed as CHARE, but should have been CHASE, as shown by two supporting sources.

14 May 2005:    4274     Satisfied myself that it is very likely that Louisa (Jones) Royce was the daughter of Benjamin "Bard" Jones and his wife, probably Mary (--?--) Jones.  Therefore, I have revised my database to show them as her parents.  The supporting information and conclusion is explained in this file: Parents of Louisa (Jones) Royce.
11 May 2005:    4274     Found the record of the 28 May 1892 marriage of William A. Parshley to Carrie M. Trickey in the USGenWeb Archives for Merrimack Co., New Hampshire: Marriages, Pittsfield, NH, 1892.  That record shows that Carrie M. Trickey was the daughter of William O. Ring of Pittsfield and his wife Nellie Miller of Sherbroke.  Sherbrooke is one of two towns in Canada, one in Nova Scotia and another in Québec.  The 1910 census of Pittsfield shows that Carrie's marriage to William A. Parshley was her second and that her mother was born in Canada.  Carrie M. Trickey was actually Mrs. Carrie M. Trickey, either a widow or divorced from a Mr. Trickey, when she married William A. Parshley.  Therefore, I changed her maiden name to Carrie May Ring, added ? Trickey who was her first spouse and their marriage some time prior 28 May 1892.  Also added the parents of Carrie May Ring as found in the marriage record and the 1920 census of Pittsfield, New Hampshire.

10 Mar. 2005:    4222     1) Added Ruth Grandstaff as the wife of Jere Braley Stair, and their daughter, Nancy Ruth Stair.  As found in the 1930 census of Azusa Twp. of Los Angeles Co., California and the California Birth Database.  2) Added details for the Dec 2004 death of Nelda Pearl (Fisher) Seberg, from her obituary.  She was the mother of a Braley family researcher (my 4th cousin) who has been very generous in sharing her work with me.
9 Mar. 2005:    4220     1) Added Elizabeth A. (--?--) Mott, who was the spouse of Albert R. Mott, and their children, who lived past infancy.  This information as found in the 1900-1930 censuses of Adams Co., Nebraska.  2) Corrected the gender of Robert James Stuart, which somehow was female in error.
8 Mar. 2005:    4217     1) Added the four spouses and eight children of siblings of Noel Anupole Valero, our daughter's husband.  Most of this information comes from the California Births Database and correspondence with our daughter.  2) Added details found in the Calfornia Deaths Database about Virgil Stuart, brother of Isabel (Stuart) Ricker, whose full name was Virgil Newton Stuart and he died 7 Jan 1953 in San Bernardino Co., California.  This negates the need to wait for a copy of his SS-5 application for a Social Security Number, as mentioned in the update of 1 Mar. 2005, because he did not have one.
7 Mar. 2005:    4205     1) Added Thomas Harold Tracy as a son of Harold Tracy and Reba Clara (Braley) Tracy.  He was born in 1937, after the death of his grandmother, Clara E. (Weigand) Braley, and was not mentioned as a grandson in her obituary.  His birth was found in the California Births Database.  Also found the date of birth of two of his first cousins, Wilbur Thomas Ebersold and Joan Hertenstein, from the same source.  2) Added Emma M. Weaver, wife of John H. Mott, and their daughter, Vivid Mae Mott, whose death record in the California Deaths Database provided the surname of her mother.  This as found also in censuses of Nebraska, Washington and California.
5 Mar. 2005:    4202     Added Jean Stuart Ricker as a daughter of Kepford Ricker and Isabel (Stuart) Ricker.  She and her brother Kepford Ricker were the two grandchildren who survived Isabel's adoptive mother Alice (Braley) Stuart as reported in her obituary.  Kepford was previously known from his death record from the Social Security Death Index, the birth of both Jean and Kepford are also shown California Births Database.
4 Mar. 2005:    4201     1) Added three children of John T. Mott and Elizabeth A. (--?--) Mott, who are siblings of Jennie (Mott) Stuart, because one of those children (John H. Mott) died in California, and the California Deaths Database record of his death tells me that his mother's maiden name was Weaver.  2) Added three chidren of Charles F. Ricker and Melissa J. (Haskin) Ricker, who are the siblings of Amos Leroy Ricker.  3) Added four children of David Kepford and Mary (Robertson) Kepford, who are the siblings of Jessica V. Kepford.
2 Mar. 2005:    4191     1) Added John T. Mott and his wife, Elizabeth A. (--?--) Mott, who were the parents of Jennie (Mott) Stuart, and grandparents of Virgil and Isabel Stuart.  This information as found in the 1880, 1885, 1900 and 1910 censuses of Hall Co., Nebraska.  2) Added David Kepford and his wife, Mary (Robertson) Kepford, who were the parents of Jessica V. (Kepford) Ricker, and grandparents of Eleanor and Kepford Ricker.  Kepford Ricker was the husband of Isabel Stuart.  This information obtained from the obituary of Jessica (Kepford) Ricker, several censuses of Iowa and the Iowa Marriages, 1851 - 1900, online database.
1 Mar. 2005:    4187     Deleted the specific date of birth and date and location of death for Virgil Stuart as obtained from the Social Security Death Index, because I am not sure that this is a record for the correct person.  I wrote for a copy of his SS-5 to make sure.
28 Feb. 2005:    4187     Added L. Faye (--?--) Stuart as the wife of Virgil Stuart, as found in the 1930 census of Toledo, Lucas Co., Ohio.  This was difficult to find because he was indexed as Vergil N. Stuart.  Also discovered from other censuses that Virgil remained with his father, Alfred H. Stuart, in Hall Co., Nebraska, until sometime after 1910.
27 Feb. 2005:    4186     Cited additional sources for facts regarding the descendants of Jasper N. Stuart.
26 Feb. 2005:    4186     1) Corrected my error of the previous update.  James Frederick Stuart never married and died 1917 in Victor, Iowa Co., Iowa.  The wife, --?-- Mott, whom I supposed he had, was actually the wife of Alfred H. Stuart, she was Jennie Mott, and they were the natural parents of Isabel Stuart. Jennie (Mott) Stuart probably died shortly after the birth of Isabel Stuart and Alfred asked his brother to raise the infant.  2) Added seven more children of Jasper Newton Stuart and his wife Prudence I. (Muir) Stuart, their spouses and all their grandchildren and their spouses.  That is 14 individuals added.  Sources for this information are many censuses, biographies, obituaries, Kellogg burials and articles from the Nashua Reporter, newspaper of Nashua, Iowa.
23 Feb. 2005:    4172     Added James Frederick Stuart and his wife --?-- (Mott) Stuart, who were the natural parents of Isabel Stuart, who was born 1904 in Nebraska, and was adopted by William Hall Stuart and Alice Amanda (Braley) Stuart after James and his wife died before 1910.  This information comes from several censuses, the California Death Index and largely from the obituary of Jasper Newton Stuart, father of William Hall Stuart and James Frederick Stuart, and grandfather of Isabel Stuart.  This is another obituary from the Stewart Library, Grinnell, Iowa.  To see all the obituaries I have obtained from that source, including the latest one, click this link.
20 Feb. 2005:    4170     Added and revised details for the family of John M. Plum and his wife, Martha Ann (Hayward) Plum, based on finding her obituary in the Stewart Library, Grinnell, Iowa, Obituary Database.  To see all the obituaries I have obtained from that source, including the latest one, click this link.
18 Feb. 2005:    4170     Added and revised details about the children of Thomas Hayward and Harriet (Desmond) Hayward.  1) Added Sarah Emma Crozier as the spouse of their son James Hayward, their marriage, her 1903 death in Sac Co., Iowa, and his 1918 death in Los Angeles Co., California.  This information as found in several censuses and the California Deaths Database, as well as from a living descendant.  2) Added Joseph Hollingsworth as the spouse of their daughter Mary Elizabeth Hayward who were married in Johnson Co., Iowa and lived in Iowa and Nebraska.  This information from Iowa Marriages, 1851-1900, database on Ancestry.com, the 1880 census of Johnson Co., Iowa, and the 1870 census of Lancaster Co., Nebraska.

(Van De Wall) Failor.  Information as obtained from correspondence with a living descendant and from several articles from the Sheboygan Press, newspaper of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
30 Jan. 2005:    4160     1) Revised details for Carlton Braley Failor, including the full name of his wife, Agnes H. "Peggy" Van De Wall, her birth and death, and their marriage.  Information as found in the Sheboygan Press report on their 50th wedding anniversary celebration, 1930 census of Sheboygan Co., Wisconsin, and the Social Security Death Index.  2) Revised details for Carroll Justine Failor, including the full name of his wife, Florence Edith Stewart, her birth and death, and their marriage.  Information as obtained from correspondence with a living descendant.
22 Jan. 2005:    4160      Revised additional details for the children of Sawtell/Sartile Holden and Hannah (Cook) Holden, including adding John W. Sweet as the spouse of Lydia Prescott Holden, as found in The Holden Genealogy and the databases of the Bradford Co., Pennsylvania GenWeb Site.
20 Jan. 2005:    4159     1) Changed death location for Guy H. Hitchcock and location of first marriage of Charles R. Hitchcock, following discovery of articles from Davenport, Iowa, newspapers that provided details that I had not known.  2) Revised details for the family of Reuben C. Holden and his two wives, as found in The Holden Genealogy, except that I kept him as a son of Julius Sawtell Holden.
18 Jan. 2005:    4159     Added Charles D. Snover as the spouse of Cynthia C. Hitchcock, daughter of Jared Beecher Hitchcock and Lucy (Hubbard) Hitchcock.  This information was found in obituaries for Cynthia's parents and her brother, Albert C. Hitchcock.  Also changed the date of death of Lucy (Hubbard) Hitchcock from 18 May 1898, as shown in the Iowa WPA gravestone records, to 18 March 1898, as found from the dates of two obituaries for her.
17 Jan. 2005:    4158     Added details about the deaths and burials of Sawtell Holden and Hannah (Cook) Holden and most of their children, as found in databases of the Bradford Co., Pennsylvania GenWeb Site.
12 Jan. 2005:    4158     Changed the birth date of Seth Morton Tucker from 7 Sep 1830 to 6 Sep 1829 because he was counted in the 1830 census of Barnard, Vermont and the records of Barnard, Vermont, show the 1829 date.  Also the 1840 census of Union Co., Ohio shows him as between age 10 and 15, i.e. born between Jun 1825 and Jun 1830.  His 1879 biography, 1880-1910 censuses and his obituary have his birth in 1830, probably because he claimed to have been born in 1830.
10 Jan. 2005:    4158     1) Changed the birth date of Mabel Clare Jackson from 7 Oct 1880 to 7 Oct 1879 because she was counted in the 1880 US Census of Iowa.  2) Revised birthplace of Eva Marjorie Jaynes, a.k.a. Mrs. William Benjamin Londeree, Sr. to Shinnston, West Virginia, which is not spelled correctly in my source.
7 Jan. 2005:    4158     1) Revised details about the family of George Edwin Mumma and his first wife, Leonora Kimball, based on finding both of their obituaries, as well as information from the Florida Death Index.  Also found the obituary of the woman whom I thought was his second wife, Dorothy (Robbins) [Pilcher] Mumma, but that obituary showed that it was for Dorothy (Rennison) Mumma who was not the second wife of George Edwin Mumma, so I deleted the incorrect information about Dorothy (Robbins) [Pilcher] Mumma.  I think that she is likely still living since I have not found a record that I know to be of her death.  2)Added a Mr. Pilcher who was the first husband of Dorothy Robbins and was the natural father of two Pilcher children mentioned in the obituary of Major George Edwin Mumma.
2 Jan. 2005:    4157      1) Added information about the death and burial of Carmen Evelyn (Braley) Mumma, a.k.a. Mrs. Albert G. Mumma, which occurred during the last few days of 2004.  Information as provided by a living son.  2) Added information about the family of Ethel Maxine (Braley) Smith as provided by a living brother of her first husband, Stanley A. Smith.  This information includes the fact that their daughter, Sally (Smith) Griffin, had just two known children, who replace the "Five Children Griffin" that I had been incorrectly told she had.
