Hitchcock as a probable child of Charles Rollins Hitchcock & Rachel L. (Hitchcock) Hitchcock. Lucena was probably named after Lucy Lucena Jenney, Charles Hitchcock's first wife who died in 1846. Her death as Fidelia Reed, age 19, and the death of her sister Louisa Hitchcock, age 15, both in 1843, were reported in the same edition of The Gazette, newspaper of Davenport, Scott Co., Iowa. They are both sisters of Rachel L. Hitchcock, who was the 2nd wife of Charles R. Hitchcock (my 2nd great-granduncle), and of Clark Hitchcock, who was the first husband of Caroline Hannah Rogers, who was the 3rd wife of my great-grandfather, George Walter Deming.

14 Nov. 2003:    3481     Revised to show that the marriage of Lorna Marcelle Deming and Burdette M. Berens probably ended in a divorce by about 1952, when she entered the State University of Iowa, College of Nursing as Lorna Berens.  She graduated with a BS in Nursing in the Spring of 1956, and may be the Lorna M. Berens, age 75, currently living in Yuma, Arizona.  Burdette Berens probably remarried after their divorce, and died March 22, 1971 in Kalkaska, Michigan.
13 Nov. 2003:    3481     1) Corrected the name given in the biography of J. P. Nichols for his wife's father as "N. M. Hall" to Mercer M. Hall as found in the Iowa WPA Grave Registrations of Muscatine Co. and in the 1880 census of Lincoln Twp., Johnson Co., Iowa.  2) Added N. Deming, as Elizabeth Miller.  This came from May & June, 1955 social items in the same newspaper; she was a sister of Mr. R. J. Miller of Iowa City.
8 Nov. 2003:    3479     1) Added Kirstine Ricardsdatter, a sister of Lise Richardsdatter, as found in the Baptism Records of Gran, Oppland, Norway.  2) Added Ethel Frances Townswick, wife of Marcus Herbert Emmons, as found in the Minnesota Death Index.  3) Documented additional undocumented events.
7 Nov. 2003:    3477     1) Added a previously unknown first marriage about 1907 for Alma Germaine Emmons to a man from Indiana with the surname Lymon but an unknown given name.  Also added a child of this marriage that apparently ended in divorce before the 1910 census of Emmons, Freeborn Co., Minnesota.  In that census Alma Lymon, age 24, divorced, daughter of George H. Emmons, and George C. Lymon, 2, a grandson, are living in his household.  2) Added Mabel Knutson, wife of Hamlet Chester Emmons, and probable granddaughter of Hans J. Knutson. She is also one of the listed burials in Oak Lawn Cemetery of Nunda Twp., Freeborn Co., Minnesota.
5 Nov. 2003:    3474     1) Added numerous dates of birth and death and burial locations for many of my Emmons ancestors and relations as found in the burial listings of Oak Lawn Cemetery of Nunda Twp. of Freeborn Co., Minnesota.  This listing was compiled by a current resident of that area, who has graciously shared her work with me and others.  This listing also caused me to add Nettie A. Ringstad who was the wife of Victor Emmons a first cousin of my grandmother, who was discovered in this listing.  2) Deleted one child of Alfred Blaisdell and Grace P. Emmons, probably added in error.
3 Nov. 2003:    3474     Added the seven natural children of Hans J. Knutson and Ingeborg (Larsdatter) Knutson as found in the 1880 Federal and 1885 State censuses of Norway Twp., Winnebago Co., Iowa.  This is the family that took in and raised Regina Hanson, sister of Andrew M. Hanson, after their mother died about 1881.  She is in the 1885 census, living in this family.
1 Nov. 2003:    3467     Added the parents and grandparents of Sarah Marie Sondrol, wife of Andrew M. Hanson. Andrew Hanson was a son of Lise "Anna Lisa" (Richardsdatter) Hanson, who was a half sister to Christine (Larson) Emmons (Mrs. Henry G. Emmons) who raised him after his mother died.  Parents and grandparents of Sarah Marie Sondrol were found in the 1895 Iowa State Census of Silver Lake, Worth Co., Iowa, and grandparents were found in the 1880 Federal Census also of Silver Lake, Iowa.
29 Oct. 2003:    3461     Revised information about the family of Levi Horsman/Hosman and Mary Wilson, parents of Rachel Hosman (Mrs. William Jackson).  This changes the probable location of their marriage and the locations of the births of their children, based of history of the counties of Ohio and the Federal Censuses of 1820, 1830 & 1840 for Richland and Hardin Counties of Ohio.
25 Oct. 2003:    3461     Revised data based on receipt of a copy of the original application for a Social Security Account Number (Form SS-5) made by Ruby M. (Robinson) Shoemaker on April 12, 1967.  This form, probably supported by a birth certificate, shows that she was born July 30, 1894 in Tipton, Cedar Co., Iowa.  This birth date is years earlier than indicated by her age in censuses and is 14 years earlier than she reported to the Washington County Hospital, where she was a patient prior to her death May 9, 1987.  She was also found as a child living in Tipton, in the Iowa State Census of 1895, age 1, and the Federal Census of 1900, age 6.
22 Oct. 2003:    3461     Added the spouses of Leonard L. Hitchcock and Roy H. Hitchcock, and three children of Roy H. Hitchcock and his wife. As found in the 1930 censuses of Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., and Davenport, Scott Co., Iowa.
20 Oct. 2003:    3456     Added the parents and known siblings of James G. Bane, second husband of Mildred Hitchcock. Parents of James G. Bane were Elizabeth Alice Tyrrell and her second husband Clark B. Bane. Her first husband was John C. J. Logan who died in 1895 about 3 years after their marriage. John C. J. Logan was a half brother of Minnetta (Logan) Hitchcock, Mildred Hitchcock's mother. Therefore, I also added Sarah Ellen Keever, who was the mother of John C. J. Logan as the first wife of William Coffee Logan. All as found in the Iowa Cemetery Records for Scott Co., and several censuses of Scott Co., Iowa, and Clear Creek Co., Colorado, and some other sources.
19 Oct. 2003:    3449     Added an unknown man from North Carolina, who was the first husband of Mildred Hitchcock, and two children from that marriage whom she took with her as step children of her second husband, James G. Bane. This as found from information contained in the Iowa Cemetery Records for Scott Co., Iowa, and 1920 and 1930 Federal censuses of Davenport, Scott Co., Iowa, and Idaho Springs, Clear Creek Co., Colorado.
15 Oct. 2003:    3446     Added two children of Walter L. Mackey and Rosetta Nichols who died in infancy, as found from the 1900 and 1910 censuses of Springdale Twp., Cedar Co., Iowa. Also added the birth months of those persons in the 1900 census.
12 Oct. 2003:    3444     1) Revised the ancestry of Elnathan Gregory to make him the son of Samuel Gregory and his second wife, Rachel Taylor, rather than a son of Samuel's first wife, as I had previously. Also added portions of three generations of ancestors of Rachel Taylor.  2) Added some details and a few more persons to one generation of ancestors of David Gaylord, husband of Wanda Lucile Deming, as found in well documented WorldConnect databases.
10 Oct. 2003:    3432     1) Added portions of five generations of ancestors of David Gaylord, husband of Wanda Lucile Deming, to show that he is another descendant of the same progenitor as the Gaylords in the update of 3 October 2003. This as found primarily in on line databases of the Gaylord Family Organization and personal knowledge of David and Paul Gaylord.  2) Added Paul Gaylord, living brother of David Gaylord, and 3 half siblings of David and Paul, per information provided by Paul.
4 Oct. 2003:    3404     Added Daniel Bristol, Jr. who was the first husband of Elizabeth (unknown surname). After the death of Daniel Bristol, Jr., about 1745, Elizabeth (--?--) Bristol married Thomas Brooks, II. This addition exposed Henry Bristol and Lydia Brown (grandparents of Daniel Bristol, Jr., Desire Bristol and Esther Bristol) as common ancestors (7th great-grandparents) of both of my parents. I had not been previously aware of that relationship.
3 Oct. 2003:    3403     Added portions of five additional generations of ancestors of Flavilla/Flavella Brooks, maternal grandmother of George Walter Deming. These as found primarily in on line databases of the Gaylord Family Organization and Genealogies of the Brooks Families of New England, both well documented with primary sources.
30 Sep. 2003:    3364     Added portions of two generations of ancestors, and five siblings, of Flavilla/Flavella Brooks, maternal grandmother of George Walter Deming. As found primarily in the History of Cheshire, Connecticut from 1694 to 1840, by Joseph P. Beach, an Ancestry.com online database.
27 Sep. 2003:    3355     Inserted one additional generation and added portions of two more generations of ancestors of Mary Beecher, wife of Abel Parmelee and mother of Lydia Parmelee, who was the wife of David Hitchcock. This revised ancestry of Mary Beecher is now consistent with those Beecher researchers who believe that there were two Joseph Beechers, a son, born about 1647, and a grandson, born 1670, of Isaac Beecher.
22 Sep. 2003:    3349     1) Discovered proof that Able Parmelee/Parmalee was alive until at least 1759 and was the father of the two daughters born after 1740 to Mary Beecher, his wife. In the Colonial Connecticut Records, 1636-1776, Abel Parmele is identified in October 1759 as remaining with the New Haven Society when the White Haven Society was created from the original New Haven Society. Some sources indicate that he died in 1740, but that is not the case. His daughter Lydia Parmelee married Patriot David Hitchcock in 1769 and they are ancestors to about 230 persons in this database.  2) Added Keziah Hall as the wife of Nehemiah Royce, who was a grandson of Robert Royce and a nephew of Samuel Royce, as taken from the database of Michael E. Dobson. This Nehemiah Royce and his wife had a son Nehemiah Royce who married Rhoda Royce, she was his second cousin, once removed, and a descendant of Samuel Royce.
12 Sep. 2003:    3348     Added Hannah Morgan as the wife of Nehemiah Royce, who was a son of Robert Royce and a brother of Samuel Royce, as found in on line Vital Records of New London, Connecticut, from Barbour. Also cited that source as documentation for a few other facts.

30 Aug. 2003:    3347     Revised information on emigration of Bessie Lee (Knox) Robinson and her two sons to Canada in 1929, and their movements in Canada. Based on the Registration of Death of William Robinson, I had originally thought that the family emigrated first to New Denver, British Columbia (See update of 13 Aug. 2003). However, a recent letter from Jack L. Robinson indicates that his father's family emigrated first to Hanna, Alberta, and that Bessie Robinson and her two sons moved to Nelson, British Columbia in October 1935 and then to New Denver in 1937. In addition this new information revised the approximate dates and locations of the ending of the marriage of Fred A. Robinson and Bessie Lee Knox and her 3rd marriage to Louis M. Johnson.
24 Aug. 2003:    3347     1) Replaced the "Ten Children" of Milton B. Hitchcock and Mary Posy Maddox with the names and information about all ten of those children and seven of their spouses. Information extracted from primarily Descendants of John Hitchcock an unpublished manuscript by Merle Vern (Hitchcock) Cox, a granddaughter of Milton B. and Mary Posy Hitchcock.  2) Corrected the spelling of the maiden name of Mary (Scoggins) Hitchcock, author of Descendants of Matthias Hitchcock another unpublished manuscript that is one of my sources. Mary Scoggins is the wife of Robert Lee Hitchcock, a grandson of Milton B. and Mary Posy Hitchcock. I had mistakenly spelled her maiden name as Scroggins.

13 Aug. 2003:    3333     Updated information on the family of Bessie Lee Knox and her 2nd and 3rd husbands, Fred A. Robinson and Louis Milton Johnson, based on information found in the British Columbia Registration of the Death of her son William Robinson, born February 26, 1925 in California, USA, and died June 17, 1939 in British Columbia, Canada.
9 Aug. 2003:    3333     1) Added the given names of Louis Milton Johnson, 3rd husband of Bessie Lee Knox and step father to Jack L. and William Robinson. Earl Ensminger from April 22, 1904, as originally reported, to April 22, 1906, as verified by the Marriage Records of McMinn County, Tennessee.  3) Added Alice (--?--) Brailey, wife of Dr. Allen Gilbert Brailey, Sr., and mother of Dr. Allen Gilbert Brailey, Jr., who was a first cousin of Harold Edwin Brailey, Jr., who wrote my father in 1943 about Brailey/Braley genealogy prior to the Braley Genealogy book. 29 July 2003:    3330     1) Added the known spouses of the children of Elmer Judson Failor and Lucy Maria (Braley) Failor, as provided by a living descendant of this family.  2) Added a third child, with uncertain given name that looks like Barry, a daughter of Charles A. Isaacs and Henrietta (Emmons) Isaacs, born about 1912, as found in the 1920 Census of Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.  3) Added the date of the first marriage, and the location of the first and second marriages of Bessie Lee Knox to (1) I.
